General

What is virtual cycling?

Virtual cycling is the act of taking part in an event where you complete a target value (Distance / Elevation or Time etc). When you complete the event target you are rewarded with something shiny.

I don't live in the UK, can I still take part?

Definitely! These are virtual events, so anyone can take part! The only difference is the events are currently UK based so winter events in the UK, might not be winter events in your country!

Is there an age limit?

Hell yeah! Strava only lets you have an account when you hit 13 years old (See their Terms & Conditions), so we abide by these rules also. If your a parent and concerned about your child using Gain+Glory please get in touch.

I've forgot my password, how do I reset it?

Don't worry, we all have memory lapses! You can reset your password on the Forgot Password page.

I have a privacy concern, how do I resolve this?

That sounds scary! And because of this, please get in touch with us immediately so we can resolve your problem.

Events

How many events can I join at a single time?

You can join as many events as you can handle at any single time. The more you enter and complete the quicker you'll level up and earn your rewards. Just remember, that rides are only synced to one of your active events - Not all. No cheating now!

What GPS cycling computers are supported?

You can use any GPS cycling computer as long as it can record your required target. E.g. If your target is 50 mile, make sure that your cycling computer records distance. It's better to ensure you have full GPS signal before starting your activity.

Can I use a GPS watch to complete an event?

For sure! As long as it records as a 'cycling' activity (Not a run, walk etc) then your okay to use a GPS watch. Just make sure that your watch is compatible with your event type. E.g. If your watch doesn't track elevation, but your event is to complete 2,000ft of climbing - You might be in trouble!

Do I need GPS signal to complete an event?

Whilst you don't necessarily need this, we recommend it due to the way Strava marks any activities without GPS signal as a 'Trainer' workout. This means you will be marked as doing your event on an indoor/static trainer on our leaderboards even if you did it outdoors.

How do I know when I have completed an event?

You will recieve an email once your event is complete. But if you've not got that, don't sweat. You can check by going to your account and looking at 'My Events'.

Do I need a Strava account to enter an event?

Yes, Strava accounts are required to automatically sync your activity data. We're working on this though and intend to roll out automatic syncing from Garmin Express and Wahoo Fitness software over the next few months.

Can I use a static or indoor trainer/software? (E.g. Zwift, Smart Trainer, Turbo Trainer etc)

For sure! We let you choose when you ride, so why not WHERE you ride? You can ride outdoors, but also on static or indoor trainers. But please note that you will be marked on the leaderboard differently if you use a static or indoor trainer.

Connection

I've completed an activity but Strava has removed X amount from my distance / elevation

To ensure you match the requirements of your entered event we recommend cycling at least 0.5mi more, or 100ft more than your intended target. Strava sometimes recalculates your activities and this may be different to one shown on your cycle computer/watch.

I've noticed a result on the leaderboard that looks fake / spam, how do I report it?

If you notice any events that have false activities on the leaderboard, please flag them using the 'Flag' icon on that particular result.

How do I submit my activity?

Use your favourite GPS cycling computer / watch / app and do your ride to your target distance or elevation etc. Once you've finished your ride, ensure you end it and sync with Strava. Then don't sweat, we've got you covered... Your activity will be synced from Strava to Gain+Glory.

How do I link Gain+Glory with Strava?

It's quite simple. Make sure you have a Strava account, then head to the Gain+Glory settings page and click on 'Authorised Accounts' and then 'Connect' next to Strava. Please make sure that you allow us access to your entire account. But don't worry, we don't steal or store any nasty data. This is just to ensure that if your account has good privacy settings, that we can access your private activities.

Rewards

When will my reward be delivered?

Rewards are generally dispatched 7 working days after the event has finished. This means you will recieve your reward within 10 working days. If you finish the event with 20 days to go, you will still need to wait until the event has finished before we process the rewards - Speedy pants.

In some rare cases rewards may be custom and require a bit of extra time. If this is the case it will say on the event page or we'll contact you via email.

I've not received my reward, what do I do?

Double check you've completed your event by checking your 'Events' page. If you have completed it, and it's been longer than 14 working days please get in touch.
